Just a few things that could not be mentioned in the other sections.
Wolf Movies
Based on Jack London's novel, White Fang is the story of a young man who seeks fortune in the frozen, gold-filled Klondike. Along the way he meets Alex Larson who agrees to take Jack to his father's claim. During the final leg of their journey, Jack and Alex stay at a friendly native village. That's where Jack meets Mia Tuk; White Fang. A heartfilled story about the fight for survival in the frozen North, and the love between one man and his wolf/dog, White Fang is one of my favorite movies! Now, I never cry during movies, but the scene where Jack releases White Fang into the wild is very sad, and I almost cry; I said I almost do, I don't really! Well, not so far anyway!
Balto is the true story of another wolf/dog. Based in Nome, Alaska in the year 1925, Balto tells the story of one dog's courage to save a town stricken by a fatal disease; diphtheria. Through many struggles, and after facing many dangerous obstacles, Balto manages to bring life saving medicine to Nome and save the children. Another favorite of mine. A must see movie!!
Kazaan
Not to be mistaken with Kazaam (Shaquille O'Neal); Kazaan tells the story of a wolf/dog who has witnessed the murder of his master by an escaped convict. When the body is found, the sled dogs are taken back to town. But since Kazaan is part wolf; and rather ornery, they decide to shoot him. But they are stopped by a newly wed woman who has instantly fallen in love with Kazaan. She and her husband adopt the wolf/dog as their pet. On a trip to their cabin, Kazaan realizes the call of the wild and leaves them. He finds a wolf pack and takes over by defeating the leader; and gaining the affections of the alpha female at the same time. A very nice movie, I hope I can find it in a store and buy it someday!
Dances With Wolves
Well... not really a wolf movie, but the parts with the wolf; Two Socks, were very nice. Two Socks was sooo cute; I wanna blast the guy who shot him (too bad the Indians got to him first!!)
I remember seeing this movie a few years ago in Grade 7. We watched it in Science class. Let's see, a guy goes to Northern Canada; Baffin Island I think, to study wolves. He discovers that wolves can live on nothing but mice that live in the hills. To back up his theory that a large mammal can live entirely on a diet of mice, he gets back at all of the mice in his shack by EATING THEM!!!!!! Anyway, the ending (the last hour of which I got on tape this summer) was very interesting. I only wish I had seen the whole thing so that I knew what he was talking about!
Magazines
This magazine wasn't really about wolves, it had a wolf on the cover that looked very nice though. The story inside was about our National Parks; written by Rick Searle. Issue No. 92; dated: May, 1997.
Another article about wolves; from Readers Digest. You may recognize the picture on the cover, I have seen it all over the Internet on many wolf related sites! Dated April, 1993. Condensed from CANADIAN GEOGRAPHIC. Written by Roberta Walker.
